Has anyone tried to enable CarPlay? Or does that somehow require different hardware..
My CarPlay does work on a wired connection. It’s not possible to get it working wirelessly without different hardware and software I believe. I’m sure the order guide for my 2018 included CarPlay in my trim level otherwise it probably won’t work.

Apple CarPlay still works on our 2017 A3 Sportback e-tron, but wired only. It has never worked wirelessly. Unfortunately the wired connection has to deal with the balky Audi software, which sometimes won’t connect, but finally recognizes our iPhones eventually.

We truly miss our Audi Connect and can’t understand why Audi used old G3 connectivity on a Premium Plus vehicle. When G3 was shut down, we were told by Audi USA (while they were upgrading all their 4 and 5 series cars) that we were given the Audi Connect for free, never paid for it, so Audi USA did not have to upgrade us. This was the beginning of our displeasure with Audi USA, since the extra cost of our Premium Plus package most definitely highlighted all the remote access benefits of Audi Connect in sales brochures, but we were then left without it. Now Audi USA is pushing lots of subscriptions to get what should be included in the purchase price.

Is it possible to get audi connect on a 2017 or 2018 A3 etron?

It appears you can’t even buy it under a subscription. Simply Audi connect is no longer available I believe, if so, how does one go about having it upgraded, sounds like an expensive proposition.
