Had this come up today, has anyone else experienced it? Had ev battery replaced 3 years ago under recall, had normal battery checked today at Halfords and no faults found. Car is 2015 model. Getting an appointment at main dealer is not easy near me!
This happens after the 12V has run (temporarily) low. Typically it happens (for me) after every time I come back from vacation and the car has been sitting for a week or more. It seems the battery is always being drained a little bit, presumably by electronics.
After you use the car, the 12V battery gets recharged, but annoyingly this message NEVER goes away. Even if I reset all codes using my OBD unit, this message stays.
If 12V battery is old, this message can show much sooner. Replacing the 12V battery yourself or at non-audi dealer can also result in this message.
I understand you need VSDS (cable and software) to be able to reset this code (I believe it is used for all VWs). But the "free" VSDC version can't do it, VSCD license starts at $199.
You can also put electrical tape on the warning lights
Not sure what your problem is - But I have left my 2017 A3 for 7 weeks - and came back to the SAME level of Charge on the HV battery and the 12 volt in the trunk. That 12v Battery is charged by the HV battery and that is all controlled by magic computer functions. My guess it the 12v is not being charged as it should be.
Buy a cheep - ($5 Amazon) Cig Socket Volt Meter and watch the charge voltage when driving. if it is not at or above 13.5 volts you have Problem only the Dealer can fix. And replacing the 12v Battery will not help.
