Lubricating Charge Cover Hinges

Has anyone needed to lubricate the hinge mechanism on the four rings charge port cover? With winter weather and salted roads in Ontario, I've noticed that the cover is much stiffer to open - both the lock/unlock dial and the cover. Is a little spray of WD40 or Jig-Loo the answer?

Use WD40 silicon based spray. I lube the hinges and lock on my port cover about 2 times a year and I live in So. California.
Also, it's good to wipe off any dirt.

Thanks for that. I usually give the exposed areas a wipe every time I plug/unplug but the hinges and springs are a little tougher to get to.
