Hey I am just finding out about this car I bought last year on a whim b/c it was a good deal and my 2012 had a timing issue and I blew up the engine that was also an a3 model . I love this 2016 very much tho I am having some issue. I joined to possibly connect with folks that are in the know .

1. I keep getting a check engine coolant warning I have found out now there are two systems the normal one is full the other is almost empty so I guess it's the electrical side. Has anyone DIY this issue ? I would take it in but I cant get in until next month there service center is booked and it seems no shop wants to work on this car. I have had this issue for months now unaware of the two systems I figured it was a bad sensor not a leak Ive ignored the warning and have gone on multiple road trips just reseting the system when the warning comes up no issues, Audi showed me the other filling tank and there's a tiny bit of pink in there still not much tho and like I said they wont get to it for a month I have a trip coming up this week. Anyone successfully work on this issue? I would like to just add the fluid it needs and get it serviced after the trip its about 1200 miles round trip . Last trip was 800 miles round trip the warning came up a few times tho the car didn't over heat or act abnormal.

2. Diagnostic gauges. I cant for the life of me find any of the normal guages normally displayed on the dash . I can get a few like a tac if I want but not the freaking engine temp oil pressure etc. Having this issue above drives me nuts not being able to see the
engine temp how would I know other than there's no cooling fans winding I just have to guess tho anyone have a solution or a reason they dont have that function?

3. Battery degradation/upgrade. I have aBOUT 75 percent or so left on the 2016 og batteries I would love to put some new tech in eventually does anyone know will this be possible in the future or will we always be stuck with the 25 mi range oem batteries? I would love to get some more range and more efficiency for the price of replacing them even at extra cost it would be worth it

thanks for the help will keep the forum updated as I go along

Sorry to read about your EV cooling System issue. Everything I read says this is a Sealed system that only Audi will touch. So maybe your only option is to rent a car for you trip because if the EV cooling system fails you risk loosing the entire EV system. That cooling system manages the EV motor and the eletronic controls and the tranmission. Driving the A3 could cost distroying all of that, and totaling the car.
Depending on Dealer, have the A3 towed to them and request a Loaner Car. Don't tell them about you trip!
Sorry but these PHEV are complicated and risky if you do mot have Audi Service avalable. No independent will touch that EV system. I have a great Indy Audi shop nearby. They will do ICE service, oil Filt etc., but will not touch the EV Stuff.
