Hello! I am thinking about purchasing a 2021 Audi A3 e-tron as my first car.
My driving needs are relatively low, mostly for errands, occasional outings, and weekend trips. I work from home and primarily use public transport for everything local, so the car wouldn't be heavily used.
It has low mileage and it looks really good on paper. But I have seen concerns about the electric-only range.
Do you think it is worth the investment (22k) given these light driving needs?

If you're considering the A3 e-tron, I’d recommend evaluating your driving habits. I had a similar experience with my first EV, and while the electric range was limiting for longer trips, it was perfect for errands and short commutes. If the range meets your needs for those occasional outings, it could be a great fit, especially at that price.

There are no Audi A3 e-trons from 2019 until 2024. Audi is reintroducing the A3 e-tron PHEV in Europe with a 60+ mile all electric range, not due out until 2025 or 2926, BUT it is not being sold in the USA, plus it is very much more expensive than the versions sold in the USA from 2016 to 2018, Any “e-trons” you see advertised from 2019 and newer are NOT A3 e-trons, but of the A7 to A8 size.

There *was* a single 2020 model year sold in EU, so it could be one of those.

Otherwise, if you can't charge at home, or don't expect to be able to in future, a PHEV doesn't make sense. If you can, and you know your around town driving amounts to less than 20 miles per day, it should be enough to get you around totally on electric.

I personally don't have access to charging at home, but my commute is only 3 miles and I can charge at the office so it works out. If I didn't, it would actually be more beneficial to have a full EV, since there's plenty of DC fast charging in the area. So consider how much driving you actually will do daily, and purchase a vehicle that works for 95% of your driving needs.

If you are referring to a 2017 or 2018 A3 Sportback E-Tron...? then I can say Yes it is worth investing in it... as I did this past year. Mine is a 2017 and the Dealer asked $22,000. This A3 was loaded with most every option and had only 22,000 miles on it.
Our usage is sort trips about 3 times weekly and the first Gas fill up was after 1200 miles. Over 1200 MPG? As we are in EV mode 90+% of the time and only on trips more that 20 miles do we see the ICE engine run. And even then the EV starts and the ICE engages after we get on the move. The ICE engine als0 has Coast and Start/Stop function that are all very smooth.
