I have a 2018 A3 and I noticed that my battery range suddenly decreased. I'm planning to have my battery tested as this could be the cause but I don't know if I'm doing the right thing. Has anyone encountered this one?
How long have you been rolling with that car? I agree with @minibeast422, there’s probably a bunch of other things going on besides just battery wear that could be zapping your range!I have a 2018 A3 and I noticed that my battery range suddenly decreased. We have owned our A3 Sportback e-tron since we purchased it in February 2017. We still own it, but have dropped from the original 20-22 miles of electric range, down to the current maximum of 15 miles of electric range. We have taken very good care of it, but only have 23K miles on the odometer. Battery packs do NOT degrade this quickly, unless they are flawed and of poor quality. Our 2018 Tesla Model 3 has twice as many miles, has been driven across the country and back, but has only dropped from 310 miles range to 299-301 miles of range. If our Model 3 had lost the same percentage of range as our Audi, we would now be down to ~220 miles range, way below what we have now. EV batteries degrade due to use and DC fast charging abuse, but there is no DC fast charging available for our 2017 Audi. Even our original 12V accessory battery is still operating well and has not been replaced in the over 7.5 years of use.If you have been driving your car for a while, that's not uncommon. The EVs' batteries degrade over the years. But if the car is not that old, then confirm with a professional test.
Search the forum before posting - here is a thread based on this exact problem. I used the advice on this thread and was able to get a new battery installed for free under warranty.I have a 2018 A3 and I noticed that my battery range suddenly decreased.
